Eric Lawson, age 24, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Friday, Jan. 8 around 12:40 a.m., in Inwood, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, officers responded to an alarm call at Carvana located at 40 Sheridan Blvd. Upon arrival, officers noticed the garage door was open and several interior lights on.
While checking the outside of the building a silver Infiniti that was inside the closed lot drove through the locked fence and turned right onto Sheridan Boulevard.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Doughty Boulevard and Nassau Expressway. After the stop, Lawon got out of the vehicle and began shouting at the officers “Shoot me, you’re going to have to shoot me," the police said.
Officers were able to convince Lawson to lay on the ground with his hands visible and arrested him without further incident, police said.
Lawson was charged with:
- Burglary
- Two counts of criminal mischief
- Grand larceny
- Criminal possession of stolen property
- Unlawful fleeing of a police officer
He was arraigned on Saturday in Mineola.
